She was exiled deep in the Ice Dales and imprisoned in the barren wasteland known as the Elysian Fields, an endless expanse of ice and snow above what is now the most northern town of the Ice Dales known as Snowfell.
Scholars call this event of her fall ‘The Shattering’ as when the goddess was cast down, fragments of her divine essence broke away and scattered throughout the Ice Dales.
These fragments are said to pulse with her divine power. and embedded themselves in the land.
Auril radiates cold as naturally from her ice prison and manifests outward as violent storms, sudden blizzards, ice quakes, and winters that feel like they last half the year as an expression of her pain.
They say the I-var-drim were the oldest known inhabitants of the Ice Dales. Oral tradition holds that their ancestors discovered one of the shards after Auril’s fall and used it to control the weather themselves creating an oasis within the Ice Dales
The I-var-drim are no more, only lost songs, incomplete stories and fading traditions remain of them and the fate of the shard they protect is also lost to history.
